Isaca (www.isaca.org) is a well known organization, with more than 100,000 members in 180 country. Using their own definition, “As an independent, nonprofit, global association, ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems“.
The 29th of May 2013, the Venice chapter of Isaca hosted a conference on the subject: “Solid and usable software: how to integrate ergonomic engineering in software”.
In this meeting, Dr. Stefano Querzè from Cross Software (Malta) showed, as an example of software engineering, the latest ERP X-Cross and the development tool CrossModel, both developed entirely in Omnis . The CrossModel tool (that includes a data modeler, a framework and a proprietary multi database SQL metalanguage) can reduce the number of Omnis code lines by more than 90%, and at the same time allows the program to work with Smart Client technology, having a complete Omnis desktop application that can also work on the Internet without losing any of its desktop features. Details about CrossModel and X-Cross can be found at www.x-cross.it.
