Enrich your PB skills, become a top-notch mobile developer and surprise your customers with cutting-edge native mobile apps!

Goal: You will practice from your laptop and mobile device how to extend the classic PB features and exploit the native resources of your device: camera, maps, barcode, mail and lots more! You will learn how to write offline mobile apps, synchronize data with a consolidated DB, distribute apps, interface social networks, tips and tricks for the best mobile experience. 

Pre-requirements: Powerbuilder (at least version 11.5, suggested 12.5), Appeon 2013 R2, SQL Anywhere 12 with Mobilink.

Morning Session:

1.      Deployment of the first application: execution from the Emulator and from the device Appeon Workspace;

2.      Appeon Mobile architecture under the hood: native code, C++ and javascript;

3.      Retrieve device and app info: type, connection, orientation, resolution, touch mode, log, etc…;

4.      PDF and Email: generate a PDF report and send it via the Email client;

5.      Multimedia: how to interface to camera-roll, take picture/video and upload to a remote DB;

6.      Barcode: create/read barcode and QR code;

7.      Additional resources: play audio/video, send messages to the notification bar, check spelling in a text field;


8.      GeoLocation and Maps: access longitude, latitude, speed, altitude, retrieve addresses, process annotations. 

Lunch break

Afternoon Session:

9.      Design of offline mobile applications with SQLite and SQL Anywhere;

10.   A step-by-step example of DB automatic synchronisation with  Mobilink/SQL Anywhere;

11.   Distribution of Apps and Appeon Workspace to App Store and Google Play;

12.   Step-by-step distribution of Appeon apps to App store and Enterprise SSL servers;

13.   Integration with other apps: Facebook, Twitter, make phone calls, navigator…;

14.   Appeon File Server and file manipulation/caching from a mobile device.
